Project
Partnership with Big Brothers Big Sisters

Background
Peter Piper Pizza, a family pizza and entertainment restaurant chain based in Scottsdale, asked for the agency's assistance in developing a meaningful charity partnership with an organization that benefits the company's core consumer base of children and families. This included identifying the charity and also determining the best way for the company to support the non-profit organization.

Execution
Research and selection – Criteria were set to measure prospective charities, including a target audience match of children and families, a presence in the five states with Peter Piper Pizza locations, and the organization's status on various non-profit rankings. Ultimately, 35 organizations were considered and two received the strongest recommendation from the agency. Of those two, Big Brothers Big Sisters was chosen by the client, and partnership ideas were developed by the agency.

Facilitating the partnership – Many partnership opportunities were reviewed with Big Brothers Big Sisters, and Peter Piper Pizza committed to being a 2006 signature sponsor of the Central Arizona chapter. The agency assisted with events held at Peter Piper Pizza to support the charity, including a successful volunteer recruitment activity; internal communication among employees; media outreach; and logistics for the contract, logo requirements and giveaway items.

Results
After a successful partnership in 2006, Peter Piper Pizza continued its sponsorship of Big Brothers Big Sisters in 2007 and 2008. Employees have enthusiastically participated in two annual Bowl for Kid's Sake events to raise money for the charity, above and beyond the company's corporate commitment. Press coverage in Arizona has included a local independent television segment as well as coverage in several area newspapers and restaurant industry trade media. New volunteers have joined the organization as a result of the recruitment supported by Peter Piper Pizza.
